What Goes Around Comes Around...

Working at Woolworths, I meet people from all walks of life. Don't get me wrong there can be some weird and wonderful people. Especially living in one of the biggest industrial towns of Australia. This town is filled with people from all over the world with different backgrounds and different dreams. However, some aren't all that wonderful. Anyone that works in customer service will know what I mean. Some people can be so sour and cranky that it instantly make you feel like a bad person and can easily ruin your day. However, it can also be the opposite. If a really happy person comes along it can instantly make you feel happy.
As i sit back and watch this happy every day, i have come to a conclusion. I think that the world would be a way better place if people were nice. Just little things can make a big impact. You probably wouldn't think it at the time but it does. Like you might think that unpacking a basket at the register isn't a big deal, but for a person that serves mostly cranky people all day that basically throw their items in your face (that has literally happened before), it makes a difference. Even showing a genuine interest in them. Whenever i go to a register i try and be kind, you can see a persons attitude change as soon as you give them a genuine smile and ask them how their day is going.
But your the one serving, you should be the one that shows interest in a customer! Well, yes. But, if you serve the amount of people as we do in a day, you remember that one person that unpacks the basket and asks you how you day went, or shares a funny story about their day. So, i figured, i want to be that person to other people, i want to brighten up their day and make them smile.
I served a lady yesterday. It was just after a had a bitter customer. She was joking with her son just as the other person left. Even though I was not in a great mood i said hello, smiled and asked her how her day was. She said good but then paused as if she just realised something then she looked at me, smiling and said, "actually, I'm really good" and asked me how i was.
Just that act there, made me realise how much someone else's happiness can rub of on someone. You can see how people moods affect other people. Therefore, i have come to the conclusion that if i am happy and kind to people i meet i am making them happy and then, hopefully they can spread on that to other people.
So, all i ask that when you are out shopping, or at work or even at school try and be happy and king to everyone you meet. You will start to realise the effect it has on some people. You never know if one little act can make someone day, just like that lady did for me. Even if that means smiling and saying good morning to the person you pass on the way to school. Don't just limit this to older people, do this even to people your own age. Don't be scared, they are in the same position as you just smile and be kind. One day it will come back round to you.
