Be Yourself...

Be Yourself.....
It is such a cliche quote. When your an insecure and shy person this makes absolutely no difference.  It one of those things that when you are going through it you don't think it is that easy. And it isn't. It takes a lot of courage and strength to be true to yourself when the world around you is anything but that. But, rather it is full of fakers, who are all copies of each other. We are so busy trying to fit in but in reality if you don't fit in you are doing something right. It means that your are different from the mindless clones that make up this world. To be yourself in this world does show strength, to stand up for yourself and what you love and believe in. It takes courage to be yourself, our in-built fears stop us from being. Well guess what... There will never be another you, we only get one life don't wait for  permission to do what you love.
Never try to hide who your are, the only shame is to have shame. Stand up for what you believe in. Always question what other people tell you. Never regret the past, its a waste of time, everything happens for a reason. Every mistake, every moment of weakness, every terrible thing that has happened to you...Grow from it.  The only way you can gain respect from others is when you show them that you respect yourself. Do your thing, whatever it may be, and never apologise for being you.
Its hard...really hard, people will always put you down. People will always have their opinions of you no matter who you are, so remember you were born an original don't die a copy. Life is too short to do otherwise.

My Tunes

I think the type of music a person listens to tell you a lot about them. Me? i like a lot of different types of music, I guess that explains a lot though... Haha. No, but seriously depending on my mood depends on what i feel like listening to. If I'm in a crappy mood i find it really hard to listen to even my favourite music. But lately i have been absolutely obsessed with the divergent soundtrack! If you have seen the movie you will know what I mean! (Expect a movie and book review soon!) I love that movie so much... I'm getting really excited jet writing about it. Anyway, i am also in love with the Ministry of Sounds Bounce Sessions album that just came out.
But, i thought in order to get to know me a bit better i would give you i list of songs i like at the moment. THEY ARE IN NO PARTICULAR ORDER. I love them equally.

1. I Need You- M83 (Official Divergent Soundtrack)

What Goes Around Comes Around...

Working at Woolworths, I meet people from all walks of life. Don't get me wrong there can be some weird and wonderful people. Especially living in one of the biggest industrial towns of Australia. This town is filled with people from all over the world with different backgrounds and different dreams. However, some aren't all that wonderful. Anyone that works in customer service will know what I mean. Some people can be so sour and cranky that it instantly make you feel like a bad person and can easily ruin your day. However, it can also be the opposite. If a really happy person comes along it can instantly make you feel happy.
As i sit back and watch this happy every day, i have come to a conclusion. I think that the world would be a way better place if people were nice. Just little things can make a big impact. You probably wouldn't think it at the time but it does. Like you might think that unpacking a basket at the register isn't a big deal, but for a person that serves mostly cranky people all day that basically throw their items in your face (that has literally happened before), it makes a difference. Even showing a genuine interest in them. Whenever i go to a register i try and be kind, you can see a persons attitude change as soon as you give them a genuine smile and ask them how their day is going.
But your the one serving, you should be the one that shows interest in a customer! Well, yes. But, if you serve the amount of people as we do in a day, you remember that one person that unpacks the basket and asks you how you day went, or shares a funny story about their day. So, i figured, i want to be that person to other people, i want to brighten up their day and make them smile.
I served a lady yesterday. It was just after a had a bitter customer. She was joking with her son just as the other person left. Even though I was not in a great mood i said hello, smiled and asked her how her day was. She said good but then paused as if she just realised something then she looked at me, smiling and said, "actually, I'm really good" and asked me how i was.
Just that act there, made me realise how much someone else's happiness can rub of on someone. You can see how people moods affect other people. Therefore, i have come to the conclusion that if i am happy and kind to people i meet i am making them happy and then, hopefully they can spread on that to other people.
So, all i ask that when you are out shopping, or at work or even at school try and be happy and king to everyone you meet. You will start to realise the effect it has on some people. You never know if one little act can make someone day, just like that lady did for me. Even if that means smiling and saying good morning to the person you pass on the way to school. Don't just limit this to older people, do this even to people your own age. Don't be scared, they are in the same position as you just smile and be kind. One day it will come back round to you.

The Spectacular Now!

Hey Guys!!
I know 2 posts in 2 days!!! Its crazy! I even surprised myself. Anyway, I thought I would try something different today and do a bit of a movie review.

I watched "The Spectacular Now" the other day and absolutely fell in love with it. It was such an amazing movie. It was cute, sad, funny.... Uh, I just can't. The two main actors are Shailene Woodley (who is acting in The Fault in Our Stars Movie by the way. I love her) and the dreamy Miles Teller (who was part of the cast in the new footloose). Both actors do an amazing job in the movie.
Its basically about a guy named Sutter who is a party kid, he meets this girl who he think he should help by being nice to. They become friends and Sutter realizes how beautiful she is. However, They figure out that they have something in common, they both need to stand up to their parents. Aimee wants to move away to college, however her mum wants her to live with her and Sutter wants information about his dad that got kicked out of the house many years earlier. Eventually, like any love story, they fall in love. Ugh, i don't want to give it away but they are the cutest couple ever. I want a relationship like that. The way he treats her and even looks at her is so adorable. If you haven't seen this movie i highly recommend that you see it. Apparently there is a book and i am defiantly going to read that as soon as i can. I will do another review about the book when i finish it!

After one crazy school term of my life I have come to realize the enormous amount of expectations adults put on teenagers.
My life at the moment consists of the following:
I am currently a senior in grade 12 of high school.
I have a school based trainee-ship which means i attend 4 days of school and one day employment at a small office doing admin work. In addition to that I complete 12 modules/assessment to go toward the completion of my Cert III in Business admin.
I also work Casual at Woolworths. Thus, most Saturdays are gone and most Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday nights until about 9:30pm are gone too.
I do 5 Subjects at School. Maths A- I am currently on an A, English- Currently on a B, Business communication technologies- Currently on a B, Business Organisation Management- Currently on a B, and Art- Currently on an A.
My family is also strictly religious, which means religious activities throughout the week.
So, that is all the things i juggle throughout every week. But it crazy how on top of that i am expected to much much more.
I'm expected to do 15 hours of studying a week, i get home work each night by each teacher expecting me to have it done by the next day even though i have work till 9:30pm that night. I'm expected to complete one module every fortnight. Each person expects s much from me and acts like they are the only important thing and nothing else matters, that i have no life outside English, or my trainee-ship. People ask me how i do it all, the realty is i really don't know.

So, i started thinking, how much time do i spend doing things and how much time would i have left? Is it even possible to accomplish what is expected of me to the full?
To simplify it i figured out how many hours there are in a year...
1 year = 8760 hrs
What I am expected to do...
School= 960 hrs ( 4 days a week for 40 weeks)
Study=780 hrs (Expected to do 15 hours a week)
Training=104 hrs (Expected to do 2 hours a week)
Homework/Assignments=120 hrs (3 hours for each assignment a term)
Work=1296 hrs (One day a week at trainee-ship and casual employment at Woolworths. Not including extra hours on school holidays)
Eating= 720 hrs (If you spent at least 2 hours a day eating)
Sleeping= 2928 hrs (If i got the recommended 8 hours per night that teachers tell us about.)
Exercise= 364 hrs (If i did the recommended 1 hour a day that we get taught we should do)
Religious= 744 hrs (Including church, ministry and other gatherings)
Sick days= 192 hrs ( The maximum 8 days per year i am told i am aloud ti have by my teachers.)
Public Holidays= 240 hrs (The 10 different public holidays we have in Australia. Inc. Christmas, Easter etc.)
Social= 528 hrs (1 hour a day social, which can means just talking to friends then 5 hours on the week ends)
Transport= 364 hrs (Assuming i spend at least 1 hour a day either walking to school or getting dropped off at work)

So in total all those things come to.........

Wow... I was shocked by this answer. I didn't even think that i included everything.
I think rather than having a bitter attitude of teenagers i think adults should respect all the effort we put into our youth. For kids that spend all their time being idiots and wasting their live, we sure do have a lot of expectations to live up to.
Its hard being a teen in this day and age. High schools aren't what they used to be. We are expected to know what we want to do for the rest of our lives by the time we are 14. We aren't considered adults or capable of making decisions until we are 18, nut we have to make such a big decision at the age of 14! No wonder there is such a big percentage of depression in youth!
I could rant about this subject for ages but i will continue this next time.

Just remember before judge a person because of their age. I just hope all this stress now will pay off in the end. That's what they teach us anyway.

Leave me a comment on your thoughts. I love to hear what you have to say!
